Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026
Remain is operated by Jeein Kim in the Republic of Korea (“we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we process through the Remain app, why we process it, and the choices and rights you have.
Remain has no sign-up or login. Your plans, tasks, notes and other records stay on your device and in your own iCloud. They are never sent to us.
Summary
- We receive only what you send in Send Feedback, minimal usage events without any content, crash diagnostics, and the technical data any server sees, such as your IP address.
- Free users see ads from Google AdMob. Ads are not personalized, and we never ask to track you across apps.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can delete your feedback in the app at any time, or email us about anything else.
Users in the United States can find additional information about their privacy and rights here. Users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland can find additional information here.

Article 1. How we use information
- To receive and answer your feedback, and to notify you when we reply.
- To find and fix problems that make the app crash or fail to read your records, and to learn where new users get stuck.
- To protect our server from abuse by limiting how many requests come from one place.
- To show ads to free users. We do not personalize ads.
Send Feedback, usage events and ads start with the app version that includes each feature.
Article 2. Information we collect
When you send feedback
Your message, its type, the app and iOS version, your device model, a random feedback key created by the app, our replies, and a push notification token if you allow notifications. There is no field for your name, email address or phone number.
Automatically while you use the app
A random per-install identifier created by the app, the app version and build, the date of each event, event names and counts (for example, that a block was created or edited), and diagnostics when the app hangs or crashes. Events never include what you write, such as block titles, notes, task text, calendar names or times. When the app talks to our server, the server also receives your IP address and the request time.
When you see ads
While ads are shown to free users, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects your IP address (used to estimate general location), device identifiers, ads seen and tapped, app interactions such as launches, and crash and performance data, and sends them directly to Google LLC for ad serving, measurement and fraud prevention. Ads appear only after you have used the app for a few days, and the SDK is not started while no ads are shown. Every ad request tells Google not to personalize ads, and because the app never asks to track you, your advertising identifier (IDFA) is not passed to Google. Google collects information across many apps and websites; see how Google uses information and Google’s business data responsibility.
What we do not collect
- Your records (plans, tasks, notes, projects, check-ins, templates, countdowns, habits, alarms and affirmations) are stored on your device and never sent to our server.
- The same records are also stored in the app’s private space in your iCloud (CloudKit private database). According to Apple, only you can access it by default and it is not visible to developers. We do not access or collect it. You can manage it in iPhone Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
- Calendar events, if you allow access, are read and changed on your device only. Affirmations you read aloud are checked on your device and not recorded.
- Subscription payments, downloads, TestFlight feedback and shared crash reports are handled by Apple. We never receive payment details.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos or Health data.
This website and the app do not use cookies.
Article 3. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal information or share it with third parties for their own purposes. We use these service providers:
| Provider | What they do |
| Amazon Web Services, Inc. | Hosts our server and stores feedback and usage events (Seoul, Republic of Korea) |
| Apple Inc. | Delivers reply notifications (Apple Push Notification service) |
Google collects ad information directly, as described in Article 2. We reviewed the published privacy commitments of these companies and chose them because they protect personal information at least as well as this policy. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Article 4. International transfers
Our server is in the Republic of Korea. Push notification tokens and notification text go to Apple in the United States when we reply to your feedback, and ad information goes to Google in the United States while ads are shown. Each is sent over an encrypted connection. If you do not allow notifications, no token is sent; with a Pro subscription, no ad requests are made.
Article 5. Retention
- Feedback: one year after the last message in the conversation, or immediately when you delete it in the app.
- Usage events and diagnostics: one year from receipt.
- IP address and request time: used only for rate limiting and deleted within 24 hours.
- Ad information: we keep none. Google retains it under its own policies.
When the period ends, we delete the information so that it cannot be restored.
Article 6. Your rights
Because Remain has no accounts, we cannot identify you by name. You can exercise your rights this way:
- Read and delete your feedback in Send Feedback. Deleting it there also deletes it from our server.
- Usage events are linked only to a per-install identifier, so we cannot find a specific person’s events. Deleting the app stops them, and received events are deleted when the retention period ends.
- For anything else, including access, correction or deletion requests, email us (Article 9).
- For ads, subscribe to Pro, change your choice in the app’s Settings under Ad Privacy Settings where shown, or turn off Allow Apps to Request to Track in iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Article 7. Security
Data between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Feedback keys are stored only as hashes, stored data is encrypted, and only one operator can access personal information through designated admin accounts.
Article 8. Children’s privacy
Remain is not directed at children under 14 in the Republic of Korea, under 13 in the United States, or under the age set by each European country (13 to 16). We do not ask for your age and do not knowingly process children’s personal information.

Article 10. Updates to this policy
This policy takes effect on October 29, 2026. When we change it, we will post the new version and its effective date here and keep each earlier version at an address with its effective date (for example, getremain.com/privacy/2026-10-29). This policy is also available in Korean.

Additional information for users in the United States
- We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- The app and this website do not track you, so they do not respond differently to a browser’s Do Not Track signal. Google may collect information across apps and websites when ads are shown, as described in Article 2.
- Remain is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Additional information for users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
- Controller: Jeein Kim, operator of Remain, Republic of Korea. Contact: support@getremain.com.
- Legal bases (GDPR Article 6(1)): Feedback is processed to take steps at your request (point (b)). Usage events, diagnostics and abuse protection are based on our legitimate interests (point (f)) in keeping the app working, fixing defects and protecting the server; we collect only minimal events without any content, linked to a random identifier, so we consider that these interests are not overridden by your rights. Ads rely on the consent you give in Google’s consent form (point (a)).
- Your rights: You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Email us, or delete feedback yourself in the app. Objecting to usage events takes effect when you delete the app.
- Complaints: You may complain to the data protection authority where you live, work, or where the infringement took place.
- Transfers: The Republic of Korea is covered by the European Commission’s adequacy decision of 17 December 2021. Information sent to Apple and Google in the United States is protected by the transfer safeguards those companies describe in their privacy policies.
